Flooding- A Proactive Approach

The Flood Risk Management (FRM) (Scotland) Act 2009 received Royal Assent on 16th June 2009. This event will summarise the process followed to date to meet the requirements of the Act and will examine how the Act has led to the collaborative approach to Flood Risk Management and how this is incorporated into development of infrastructure.

This event will also highlight the challenges of flooding, including some recent impacts in Aberdeenshire, managing public expectations, and the challenges of calls for short-term actions versus the long-term strategy and issues with promoting flood schemes.

The event will explore how Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009 has been incorporated into the Planning Legislation and Development Planning for developments.
