CIHT Skills Summit 2015 - Developing the Workforce of the Future
The CIHT Skills Summit 2015 took place on 21st October in London.
The Summit programme commenced at 09:00 and closed at 15:30.
The focus was on the latest developments regarding apprenticeships, diversity and skills needs in the Highways & Transportation sector.

The Ministerial Address was provided by Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport.
Topics: Delegates heard from the Skills Funding Agency, Infrastructure UK, Connect Plus Services, HS2, Mouchel, Highways England and the Construction Industry Council on a range of topics including apprenticeship developments and funding, the National Infrastructure Plan for Skills, attracting young people into highways & transportation, and future skills needs in the industry. CIHT also launched the Diversity and Inclusion toolkit for employers which can be found online by clicking here.
CIHT is working on a careers pack which is under development and this is due to be launched in the New Year.
Spencer Palmer, CIHT Membership & Skills Board Chair and Trustee chaired the Summit and Sue Sharland, CIHT President, talked about the Institution’s skills vision for the future.
The Skills Summit was well attended by a cross section of companies and included senior Highways & Transportation practitioners, HR and Training managers and Academic staff leading Transportation Masters programmes.
The Summit was an 'invite only' event.
