CIHT South West are delighted to announce a Dartmoor Line site visit. This will include presentations from Devon County Council, Great Western Railway and National Rail. This project won CIHT South West's Project of the Year at last year's award ceremony.
If you want to attend the optional pre-meeting tour of the new depot at Exeter St Davids Station, please choose the Pre-meeting ticket option and arrive by 12:30 at Exeter St Davids Station. Please be advised that only 12 places are available for this, so book now to avoid disappointment. You will be required to wear sturdy shoes on this tour (walking or safety books, no trainers, sandals, heels, etc.).
If you just want to attend the main presentation, please choose the normal ticket option and arrive by 13:30 at the Institute of Technology Lecture Theatre, Hele Road Campus, Exeter College.
An overview of the work undertaken to reopen the Dartmoor Line for regular passenger services to a 22km stretch of railway connecting Okehampton with Exeter for the first time in 50 years which resulted in it being awarded the CIHT South West ‘Project of the Year’ at last year’s awards ceremony. Event will comprise of a tour of the new Depot at Exeter St Davids Railway Station, a main presentation at Exeter College, followed by a return trip on the Dartmoor Line to Okehampton.
12:30 - Optional pre-meeting tour of the new depot at Exeter St Davids Station
13:30 - Main presentation by Devon County Council, National Rail and Great Western Railway
15:30 - Rail journey from Exeter St Davids Station to Okehampton Station
16:15 - Presentation at Okehampton Railway Station
16:30 - Refreshments and networking
17:25 - Return journey back to Exeter St Davids (arrives at 18:00)
If you want to leave earlier, there is another train available at 16:25. If you want to stay for more networking and a drink in the town centre, there is a later one at 18:30.
