The South West Showcase will put spotlight on what is happening across the region, appealing to all transport professionals who have an interest in what is happening across the South West.
This webinar will give an opportunity to reflect on innovative work being undertaken in the South West, as part of our annual regional showcase. Topics include electric vehicle charging, e-cargo bikes and Gravity, the South West 2022’s winner of the Collaboration and Innovation Awards.

Heather Watkinson - Associate Director Net Zero Transport at City Science
Heather has over 20 years’ experience successfully delivering decarbonisation and sustainability projects and strategies. She has supported development and delivery of EV charging infrastructure for over 13 years, working closely with the public and private sector. Whilst at City Science, Heather’s EV projects include leading development of an EV Insight study for Transport East and England’s Economic Heartland, and developing EV infrastructure strategies for a wide range of local authorities including Blackpool Council. Whilst working at Transport for London Heather was key to the development of London’s 2030 EV Infrastructure Strategy. At TfL she gained extensive EV infrastructure delivery experience helping position London as an EV infrastructure leader that hosts over 30 per cent of the UK’s charge points.

David Collis - Senior Consultant at Stantec
David has been a member of Stantec’s transport team since 2014 with a specific focus on transport modelling and data analytics. Throughout his career, he has used his mathematics background to challenge previous ways of working and develop data driven solutions. This includes the Gravity project where David developed a new transport forecasting tool to focus on how a sustainable transport future can be delivered. David’s current work is focussed on sustainable transport and carbon reduction and includes providing data analysis and support to academic research and local authorities.

Lawrence Penn - Future Mobility Consultant at WSP
Lawrence is a consultant in WSP’s Future Mobility team who specialises in e-cargo bikes for last mile freight and micromobility. He is currently working with the West of England Combined Authority to deliver a series of sustainable urban freight trials as part of their Future Transport Zone. The trials aim to prove the effectiveness of e-cargo bikes as a replacement for vans across a range of use cases, including use at NHS hospitals and on university campuses, amongst many other applications.

Peter Ramsey - Future Mobility Technical Director at WSP
Peter Ramsey is a Technical Director with a background in both transport planning and town planning. He has wide ranging experience in the industry gained over nearly 25 years in consultancy. Peter leads WSP’s Future Mobility policy and strategy offer and specialises in providing advice to local, sub-national and national public sector clients. In his role he has led on the development of rural thinking and was author of the South West Rural Mobility Strategy for Peninsula Transport and Western Gateway Sub-national Transport Bodies and he lead as leads on rural projects for other STBs and local authorities.
