Concrete is the most widely used construction material throughout the world today –It forms the basic structure of the built environment from tunnels and bridges to high-rise office and residential blocks. Concrete repair costs can run into billions of pounds and the possibility of structural failure clearly has safety concerns. Michael Nugent, will be looking at the causes and effects of embedded steel corrosion, concrete cancer, methods of detection and ultimate sustainable repairs. Founded 15 years ago, the Concrete & Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd has established themselves as the foremost specialists in this field including buildings and bridges. Michael has been Managing Director of the practice for 16 years, 25 in senior positions within specialist consultants. He worked extensively through Africa and the Middle East; lectures to RICS, ICE, IStructE and many other leading organisations, 4 years on an international panel of experts advising on the survey and strategies for nuclear power stations PFR, containment building and visited many NP’S around the world. Today, he is a recognised leader in the field of corrosion and concrete distress and as MD overseas the Head Office, Divisional Managers as well as overseas offices in the United Arab Emirates, India and Japan.
