In recent years the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) has been undergoing an extensive review process, with the intention to provide a more consistent structure, clearer and more concise information to its users, and to simplify and enable more regular future updates. New documents are currently being introduced every month, with the publication of all documents due to be completed by the Spring of 2020.
Transport Scotland and the other UK devolved authorities have supported Highways England throughout the process, through document review, challenge, attendance at Technical Project Board meetings and preparation of National Annexes.
Join Alan Oliver from the Standards Branch at Transport Scotland who will explain:
• The background behind the DMRB update and its purpose.
• The structure of the revised DMRB and the documents within.
• The process of preparing and reviewing a new DMRB document.
• Challenges and key issues for users to be aware of.
• Plans for further technical updates and our involvement in related research.
The DMRB review is a significant development and will affect project delivery across a wide range of disciplines. This event will therefore be of interest to everyone who is involved in projects following DMRB.
