Dublin Bus has launched Dublin Bus Innovation (DBI), a new initiative aimed at accelerating practical innovation across the organisation and improving the customer experience. Through a seed‑funding challenge, DBI seeks to connect with employees, stakeholders, and the public to gather bold, fresh ideas. The programme is designed to inspire new perspectives on what customers want and need, and to support creative thinkers who are looking to deliver better, smarter ways of doing things.

Dublin Bus is inviting the public to engage with four key innovation challenges:

• Data & Visualisation – Exploring new ways to store, analyse and use the extensive data generated by 165 million annual customer journeys.
• Optimisation – Seeking smarter solutions to improve process efficiency, cost management and operational tracking across a fleet of 1,100 buses and nine depots.
• Collaboration – Identifying innovative approaches to strengthen customer engagement as passenger numbers continue to grow.
• Smart Cities – Supporting ideas that position public transport at the heart of a more connected, integrated and future‑focused Dublin.

Dr. John McCarthy MCIHT - Director of Innovation and Technical Services, Dublin Bus John leads initiatives in the electrification of the bus fleet, next-generation ticketing, and automated vehicle location systems. His role involves implementing sustainable technologies to achieve climate goals.
