Are you interested in achieving CEng, IEng or EngTech through CIHT? Join us to find out more about the routes to gaining these qualifications through CIHT and some top tips on how to be successful. In this webinar, you will hear from Greg Saunders (CIHT’s Education and Qualifications Officer), Damian Meehan (Technical Director at WSP Ltd) and Cameron Patterson (Principal Engineer at Jacobs Engineering Group).

The webinar is free for all to attend and will be taking place 13:00-14:00 on Friday 4 March 2022. There will be a series of presentations followed by a chance to ask questions.

Damian Meehan

Damian Meehan, Technical Director, WSP UK Ltd

Damian is a Chartered Engineer with 26 years’ experience across consultancy, local authority, contracting and academia. He is WSP UK’s Industrial & Logistics Sector Lead advising clients on planning, sustainability and infrastructure integration matters throughout the project lifecycle. Complementing this, Damian is a member of the NLA’s Industrial & Logistics Expert Panel responsible for shaping policy and providing thought leadership in this high-growth, important sector.

Damian has been a Professional Reviewer since 2008 conducting well over 100 CEng, IEng, EngTech reviews and apprentice End Point Assessments. He is a member of the ICE/IStructE/CIHT/IHE Joint Board of Moderators who accredit UK and international civil engineering degree programmes on behalf of the Engineering Council UK and is a member of CIHT’s Individual Route Assessment Panel. He is the immediate past Chair of CIHT’s Engineering Professional Standards Panel and former member of its Membership & Skills Strategy Board and ICE’s Transport Editorial Advisory Panel.

Cameron Patterson

Cameron Patterson

Cameron Patterson, Principal Engineer, Jacobs Engineering Group

Cameron is a Chartered Engineer with over 6 years’ experience working predominantly in Engineering Consultancy within the Highways sector. Throughout his career, at both Amey Consulting and Jacobs Engineering, Cameron has worked across multiple project stages on a number of major highway infrastructure projects including both the A9 and A96 Dualling schemes, the A77 Maybole Bypass and the A90 Improvements at Laurencekirk Scheme. Cameron’s technical experience is centred around both highway alignment and drainage design. In addition to this, he has considerable experience in Site Supervision and Project Management.

Cameron has progressed incrementally through the various stages of professional development, undertaking both his EngTech (2018) and IEng (2019) reviews prior to Chartership (2021). Cameron also completed the Technical Report route prior to Chartership (2020). In addition to this, Cameron became a CIHT reviewer in 2019, first reviewing at EngTech/ IEng level before completing his own CEng and moving on to review across all three levels. Through his own experience of undertaking professional reviews, in addition to his experience as a reviewer, Cameron has a robust understanding of the professional review process and takes an active role in mentoring both staff within his own organisation and individuals who have sought support through CIHT.

Greg Saunders, Education and Qualifications Officer, CIHT

Greg's background is in education, advising professionals and students on how they can achieve professional registration to progress their careers. CIHT offer access to the full range of engineering qualifications (EngTech, IEng and CEng) as well as the Chartered Transport Planning Professional (TPP) award. TPP is awarded jointly by CIHT and TPS and administered by CIHT. Greg will be able to advise you on the different levels of registration available, including your route to gaining the qualification, how to apply and the assessment process.
