The development of a new river crossing in Great Yarmouth has been a priority for Norfolk County Council for some time, with a preferred route identified almost a decade ago. However, the scheme has now secured provisional funding from the DfT as a fast track project and has moved from a long-term objective to high priority delivery, with challenging programme milestones. This talk will look at the challenges involved in progressing the scheme simultaneously through both the DCO planning process and the procurement process, an unusual step, but one which is necessary to hit the delivery timescale.
