Rob Holden was appointed as CEO of Crossrail in April 2009. Prior to that Rob was Chief Executive of London & Continental Railways (LCR), a position he held from January 1999 following his promotion from Finance Director.  Rob led the LCR team in a series of transactions that secured the future of the CTRL Project and saw it enter into service in November 2007. CTRL, now rebranded High Speed 1, was a £5.8 billion project constructed in two sections to time and within budget. He was also Chairman of Eurostar (UK) Limited and a director of Eurostar Group the UK companies that participate in the delivery of the Eurostar high rail passenger service operating between London and the continent.

Rob is a Chartered Accountant who qualified with Arthur Young in Manchester before moving to the Vickers Shipbuilding Group in Barrow-in-Furness where he worked for 13 years. Rob is also a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
