Growing Female Talent - a joint CIHT / WIT Event - Flex Working and Leadership

Flex Working & Leadership
This first session of 2017 brings together leaders to discuss two important issues: the future of work and what businesses can do to prepare for changes and how we are growing more women into leadership. Heather, Jen & Stephanie will share their own experiences and how their businesses are supporting career progression of women. Jonathan will share his recent findings on how men are increasingly seeking more flexible working patterns. This is a unique opportunity to hear the issues shaping the future of our sector.

Key speakers at the event include:
  • Heather Ceney - Arup Heather leads the railway track design discipline for Arup in the UK. She a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, MICE, MPWI) and Permanent Way Leader for Arup’s UK MEA Rail Business leading the Track Design Team at Arup’s Midland Campus. Heather is also Chair of the cross-industry British In Situ Concrete Paving Association (Britpave) Rail Task group.
  • Ann Bentley – Global Chair – Rider Levett Bucknall - Ann is responsible for the governance of Rider Levett Bucknall Globally and provides business vision, strategy, culture and business improvement leadership. Ann entered the construction industry with British Rail in 1982 as a civil engineer before moving to Bucknall Austin as a project manager in 1989. She is both a Chartered Member of the Institution for Civil Engineers (MICE) and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Jen Brownlee – Portfolio manager – Transportation – Atkins - Jen is a Chartered Civil Engineer (MICE) who has been with Atkins since she joined as a pre-university student in 2001. Jen has worked in many engineering and Management projects in Road, Rail and Aerospace. Recently, Jen has focussed her efforts on promoting collaborative behaviours across the Atkins Transportation programme, using her natural enthusiasm and motivating skills to empower others.
  • Jonathan Swan - Head of Research - Working Families - Jonathan has researched and written on a wide range of work-life integration issues, including: fathers and work, flexible working in senior roles, productivity and performance, organisational culture and active ageing. Amongst many other projects, he is responsible for Modern Families Index.
