Human factors is a technical discipline based on understanding key influences on human performance. Drawing upon psychology, ergonomics, biology, and anthropometry, human factors specialists understand physical and mental capabilities and limitations – what are people good at and where can we go wrong?
Putting this understanding at the heart of the environments and assets that we create is essential to deliver ‘user-centred design,’ which is increasingly recognised as vital for the success of modern highways and transportation projects.
At the University of Reading, on 29 November, Dr Ailsa Peron will introduce human factors thinking from both a theoretical and practical point of view, illustrated through examples and case studies. Attendees will gain an understanding of what human factors are, the benefits of user-centred design, and how human factors thinking is being used across the transportation sector.
This meeting is free to attend for all CIHT members and their guests; and qualifies for CPD
