Ashghal continues to have a major forward pipeline of projects, and has introduced new initiatives including Constructing Excellence in Qatar and a set of Construction Enhancements for projects within its Roads Projects Department.
This event will present these initiatives and focus particularly on Ashghal’s implementation of lean construction, which began with pilot studies in 2017 and moved to the next level with their inclusion in the new contracts from autumn 2018 onwards.

Don Ward, Chief Executive, Constructing Excellence in Qatar
Don runs the Constructing Excellence initiative incubated by the Ashghal Technical Office to capture and promote best practice and innovation to benefit construction in Qatar. He is seconded from his role as global CEO of Constructing Excellence, the not-for-profit best practice and knowledge transfer organisation which is part of the charitable BRE Trust in the UK. Don specialises in policy making, industry change, benchmarking, supply chain integration, collaborative working and sustainability in housing, buildings and infrastructure.
Jenefer Alam, Associate Director, Parsons Brinckerhoff – working within Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department
Jenefer is dedicated to construction efficiency within the Ashghal’s RPD. She has been instrumental in the embedding of Constructing Excellence and Lean within the programme. Jenefer has diverse civil engineering experience, including construction, design, tendering, project controls, governance systems, innovation and Lean. She is a core member of the Constructing Excellence in Qatar team and is heading the Lean and enhanced contracts programme within Ashghal
The Rotana City Centre Doha Hotel is located in West Bay just off Conference Centre Street adjacent to City Centre Mall.
On foot: The Hotel can also be accessed directly via City Centre Mall at the eastern end of the first floor. The link will take you onto Level 2 of the hotel. Alternatively, the main entrance to the hotel can be accessed from Conference Centre Street.
By bus: Several bus routes serve the area and the main bus stop is located on Conference Centre Street outside the City Centre Mall. For a full list of routes and timetables: go to http://www.mowasalat.com/ and select “Public Transportation Routes” and “Public Transportation Schedule”.
By taxi: Taxis can pick-up and drop-off passengers at the Mall entrance.
By car: Valet parking is available at the hotel entrance, alternatively there is parking in the adjacent City Centre Mall which has a direct connection to the hotel. The main vehicular access to the hotel is via an access road just after the City Centre Mall on Conference Centre Street.
