Enduring Challenges and Opportunities
Thursday 17 May 2012
Radisson Hotel Galway
The focus of this year’s CIHT conference is on the enduring challenges which face planning and transport professionals in integrating transport and land use.
While the theories of transport and land use integration have prevailed in land use plans across Ireland for numerous years, there is still evidence that, spatial patterns continue to grow well beyond our urban centres. The conference explores that transport challenges that these patterns present and explores the implications for ‘smarter travel’.
The event is aimed at providing a forum for dissemination of technical advances as well as exchanges of experiences and ideas among engineers, planners, academics, researchers, developers, regulatory agents and project managers.
While the conference is a one-day event , we strongly recommend attendance at the conference dinner on Wednesday evening where Kevin Leyden will provide a most interesting insight.
The conference is CPD accredited by the CIHT, Institute of Engineers Ireland and the Irish Planning Institute.
Topics for Discussion Include:
• Sustainable Transport and Land Use Planning
• Regional Urban Planning
• Smarter Travel - challenges and opportunities
• Greenway Networks and Economic Development
• Rural Transport Provision
• Local Authority Funding Opportunities
