Summary
Sarah was part of the team that developed the Smart Motorway All Lane Running (SMALR) evaluation scheme for Highways England; responsible for leading aspects of the data analysis and liaising with various stakeholders as well as managing delivery of analysis work and the Controlled All Lane (CALR) project. Produced technical evaluation reports presenting SMALR performance, for presentation by the Client to the Transport Select Committee relating to the future SMALR programme. Engaged with the Client about next generation Smart Motorway technologies. She provided technical advice during the initial M62 Stopped Vehicle Detection (SVD) Trial, overcoming issues relating specifically to security, integration with existing systems and testing.
She was Technology Team lead during construction of the M4 M5 Smart Motorways Scheme. Responsible for delivery of ITS design whilst working with the Contractor on site to deliver value engineering changes utilising BIM on this £88M scheme. Responsible for financial and performance reporting, resource planning and change control in accordance with NEC3 contract. Managed the Client's stock management system to centrally procure standard technology equipment for the scheme, worth £6.7M. Calibrated flow/speed thresholds used in algorithms to automatically set signals (to control congestion). Managed site data loads and technically checked data changes. Managed (and authored) the successful delivery of 70+ technology Highways England Departures from Standard.
She has also been responsible for detailed design, implementation and commissioning of technology and communications equipment for a variety of motorway schemes across the UK. These include M27 widening scheme, M4 Variable Speed Limit (VSL) project and M4 M5 Managed Motorway (MM) Scheme.
