The Seminar will consider a number of London projects which will shape London and undoubtedly affect the economy of the whole country.  Eminent speakers from different companies will each present and key amongst these are:
 

The economics of Heathrow expansion by John Siraut

John is a Director at Colin Buchanan.  He is a highly experienced project directorspecialising in the wider economic and social impact of transport infrastructure and policy and economic development issues generally. Has worked across all modes including advice on the impacts of Stansted and Heathrow airports, London Gateway Port, London’s Crossrail, many tram schemes, PRT, bus schemes and many road projects including toll issues. Acted as expert witness at public inquiries on retail, employment and economic issues and adviser to transport and finance scrutiny committees. Author of some fifty articles and given TV, and radio interviews on a wide range of topics. In terms of economic development has worked for regional development agencies, councils and developers especially in relation to assessing the socio-economic impacts of commercial and residential developments and government policies.
  
Crossrail by Kieran Arter who is an Associate at Colin Buchanan and is an economist specialising in appraisal of rail schemes and agglomeration benefits. He joined Colin Buchanan in October 2004 after graduating from the University of Bath with First Class Honours in Economics and completing a masters degree. Since then he has been heavily involved in assisting with Colin Buchanan’s work for Crossrail. This has included producing the business case, assessing revenue risks and calculating wider economic benefits including agglomeration impacts. He gained further appraisal experience whilst seconded to TfL London Rail, undertaking a large number of rail appraisals using transport model outputs. He is experienced in applying the Department for Transport’s New Approach to Appraisal (NATA) to rail schemes, producing business cases comparing different options and sensitivities. He also has experience using TUBA and SATURN, as well as @RISK and a number of econometric programmes.
