CIHT is pleased to offer a site visit to the M275 Tipner construction site in Portsmouth.
Portsmouth City Council (PCC) is constructing a new motorway junction, a southbound bus priority lane on the M275 to the city centre and a high quality park and ride facility with a terminal building for waiting area and retail outlet.
Work began in January 2013 and the project is due for completion for Spring 2014. The Department for Transport awarded £19.5m of funding for the project with an additional £8.5m by PCC.
The Portsmouth park and ride is vital to the city’s ongoing regeneration, as it will provide sustainable transport, catering for increasing numbers of visitors generated by a redeveloped city centre and seafront, as well as for commuters and major events in the city. The motorway junction will provide access to the park and ride and opens up the possibility of developing land on the western side of the motorway referred to as Tipner west.
The scheme contributes to the £1billion vision of Portsmouth over the next 20 years that will result in significant employment and population growth. The development of the sub region’s economy will see Portsmouth evolve to a new level with regeneration of the city and planned office, industrial, hotel, retail and housing developments.
Yann Vochelle, Site Supervisor (PCC) and Malcolm Smith, Deputy Site Supervisor (Atkins) will give you a brief presentation of the Tipner project and a tour of the construction site.
Due to the nature of the site visit, we need to know numbers in advance, therefore if you would like to attend. Please send your contact details and only if you can’t provide your own personal protective equipment (PPE), details of PPE required to:
