Dr Mark Fosbrook PLY - Disability Inclusion Manager - West Midlands Combined Authority I was born with my disability and from a young age I realised that sport and physical activity were an ideal platform to show that my disability didn’t need to stop or define me. I continued my studies based around this passion all the way through to achieving a degree in Leisure Management and Sports & Exercise Science, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for my services to disability sport and development from the University of Gloucestershire in 2018. |
I have represented Great Britain in three sports and worked full-time alongside these. I believe both my disability and my sport have given me great skills for employment.
I now work as Disability Inclusion Manager for West Midlands Combined Authority, leading on work to make the West Midlands an Exemplary Region for Disabled People. This is a long-term commitment and is focused on improving services, changing systems and processes and influencing societal attitudes and behaviours. I want the region to feel different for disabled people and for them to feel empowered to be the best version of themselves they can be without facing negative barriers and challenges.
