CIHT are pleased to announce that their latest guidance document, Manual for Streets 2 – Wider Application of the Principles, will be launched through a series of conferences.
The new guidelines take the philosophies set out in Manual for Streets and demonstrate through guidance and case studies how they can be extended beyond residential streets to encompass both urban and rural situations. The document has been designed to assist Local Authority Planning and Highway officials, as well as other professionals, to bridge the gap between Manual for Streets and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges to deliver more contextually sensitive designs for new or existing highways.
The conference is also taking place at:
London - 29 September 2010 - CONFERENCE FULL
Birmingham - 5 October 2010 - CONFERENCE FULL
The days programme will give an insight into the guidelines and will look at the research undertaken for the project. Some case studies will be presented to demonstrate how the documents principles can be implemented and there will be workshops on particular aspects such as dealing with an ageing population, street de-cluttering and shared space.
