This event is aimed to give CIHT members an overview of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government's consultation on the National Planning Policy Framework and National Model Design Code. The event will also be an opportunity for members to feed into CIHT' Consultation response.
The consultation seeks views on draft revisions to the National Planning Policy Framework. The text has been revised to implement policy changes in response to the Building Better Building Beautiful Commission “Living with Beauty” report. The consultation also seeking views on the draft National Model Design Code, which provides detailed guidance on the production of design codes, guides and policies to promote successful design.

The event will feature presentations from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and the Department for Transport. The presentations will cover the consultation proposals and how this fits in with work in the Department for transport.
There will also be be a discussion session and an opportunity to feed in views to CIHT's consultation response.
He is currently working with MHCLG as architectural advisor supporting the planning, housing supply and regeneration activity since 2016. He supports a design team, established to raise quality in the built environment.
Andy has over 30 years’ experience in housing and regeneration for the private and public sector, having extensive experience as former partner and Chairman of PRP, a high profile architectural practice specialising in housing.
Sally is head of the Traffic Signs and Street Design Policy team in DfT's Traffic and Technology Division. The team is responsible for policy on street design and public realm, which makes up three-quarters of all public space and hence has a significant impact on people’s lives. The team is working with CIHT on the revision of the Manual for Streets and Manual for Streets 2, to enable those designing streets to do so in a way that contributes to sustainable, healthy and active communities.
Sally has worked at DfT since 2002, when she was offered a 'short-term' secondment from Mouchel into the Traffic Management Division, as it then was. Six years later she joined the Department full time, in August 2008, and has been part of the Traffic team in its various forms ever since.
Prior to this, she worked for WSP and then for Mouchel’s term contract with Hertfordshire CC’s highways department. She graduated from Exeter University with an MEng in civil engineering.
