Middle East Sustainable Transport

“Travel Planning: How the Middle East is learning from the UK – and vice versa?”

Wednesday 5th December 2012
Venue: Mott MacDonald, Stoneham Place, Stoneham Lane, Southampton, SO50 9NW
Talk by Damian Price

Over the last fifteen years travel planning and smarter choices have become an established element of the UK and European transport planning arena. This has not gone unnoticed in other parts of the world with significant interest (and subsequent local activity) developing in mobility management.
Abu Dhabi in particular has been keen to learn and benefit from the experience in the UK. The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport has been developing a twenty year mobility management programme to influence travel behaviour and complement its extensive infrastructure programme.
Damian Price, Projects Director from Mott MacDonald has been managing this work on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Government. This presentation looks at the challenges of encouraging sustainable transport in one of the most car dominant societies in the world. Adapting what is often considered a very European approach to meet the particular cultural, climatic and societal travel needs.

Damian has been working in the field of sustainable transport for twelve years, developing programmes and implementing initiatives across a range of organisations and locations.
There will be refreshments at 5.30pm followed by the presentations at 6pm.
