Great places are a coming together of people, not buildings, not machines, but the social activity of people. They need to feel safe, secure, and happy for their secondary activity of economic transaction to occur, which creates great places. So, if we know what these places are, how they should function, how do we then measure their sustainable activities? When we deal with people, it’s always about how they move.
Great places need services, and services need people; those people, in turn, need to be able to access these services. That is where mobility decisions, which involve transporting people and services, have a significant impact on the sustainability of places.
This session will discuss the factors that make mobility and transportation infrastructure more sustainable in delivering these great places that our governments, developers, and the very people who want to inhabit them need.
