Accredited Mediator

BICS Assessor and Senior Inspector

BICS was introduced in January 2016 and to date only 17 people (Feb 2018) have successfully completed the process to become either a certified Inspector or Senior Inspector.  It is written into BD63/17 and in June 2018 (was November 2017) becomes a requirement for inspecting motorway and all-purpose trunk roads bridges owned and managed by Highways England, Transport Scotland, the Welsh Assembly and the Department for Infrastructure Northern Ireland.

  • Where does it come from?
  • Why is it necessary?
  • Who manages it?
  • What is the process?
  • Do I need training?

Andy will try to answer all of these questions, and probably more, in an interactive presentation.

Andy Fewtrell has been a part of the BICS management committee for 4 years helping to shape and deliver the scheme.  He, uniquely is both an assessor and a certified Senior Inspector.  Andy has 30+ years in the field of bridge inspection and maintenance working for the Up and Under Group, and award-winning asset management company based in Crewe.

This is a free event with dinner served at 1800 hrs at The Kinmel, Abergele, LL22 9AS
