North East & Cumbria - Rebuilding the A591 seminar & membership drop in

Date: Thursday 21st September
Time: From 5.00pm (Membership Drop In & Networking) 6:00pm (Seminar)
Cost: Free Entry
Venue: Hallmark Hotel, Court Square, Carlisle, CA1 1QY (directly outside the train station)

Join us in Carlisle for an evening’s technical seminar and membership drop-in event.

Storm Desmond caused catastrophic damage to Cumbria’s infrastructure, back in December 2015, including the closure of the A591 – a key route through the central Lake District. David Pluse, from WSP, project managed the rebuild, on behalf of Highways England. He will revisit his successful presentation about the challenges faced in getting the road reopened in time for the spring, and how resilience is now at the forefront of highways design, construction and maintenance.

Prior to the seminar, there will be an opportunity for members to drop in to discuss any aspects of membership, CIHT and the NE&C Region, and professional qualifications. Non-members considering joining CIHT are also welcome to attend. There will also be an 'open' NE&C Committee meeting for which members are welcome to participate.
