County and Unitary Authorities assumed the role of 'Lead Flood Authority' on 1st October 2010, and many of the new duties and powers associated with the new role are expected to begin from April 2011.
As NYCC's Flood Management Officer, Mark is working closely with DEFRA, the Environment Agency and the Local Government Forum to help shape the regulations and guidance supporting the new legislation.
Mark's presentation will provide an overview of the new duties, and identify some of the risks and opportunities that it will present for Local Authorities and their partners.
