Topic - The transformation of Oxford Street and the surrounding district is a key Mayoral objective and is intended to create an iconic destination in the heart of London. To achieve this aspiration, Transport for London (TfL) is working in partnership with Westminster City Council (WCC) to develop proposals to make significant improvements to Oxford Street and the surrounding district. This evening event will provide an overview of project scope, the politics, the joint TfL/WCC team, design of public realm, buses and accessibility issues, air quality and freight. It will also cover hostile vehicle mitigations, design and delivery phases.
Speakers - Sam Monck, is on secondment from TfL to lead a joint Westminster City Council/Transport for London team developing and delivering the transformation of Oxford St. He has been Head of Borough Projects and Programmes at TfL, and before that worked at the London Borough of Camden for 25 years running a range of strategic and operational services including Transport Strategy, Engineering, Parking, Environment Services and Sustainability. While at Camden Sam oversaw the development of the West End Project (changing the Tottenham Court Rd area) and the delivery of changes to Bloomsbury, and phased improvements to Camden Town. At TfL he has worked with boroughs delivering a range of area and town centre improvements, Mini Hollands and borough cycling programmes and other projects.
Rory Poole, is a Director of AECOM and JV Board Director at ConwayAECOM Ltd. The JV is set up to deliver London Highways Alliance Contract (LoHAC) and Southwark Highways and Professional Services Contract (HAPS). He has worked for Oscar Faber/FaberMaunsell/AECOM over the last 20 years. Recently as Head of Government Sector (UK) and Head of Highway Bridge Sector (UK and Europe) and now as Highway Bridge Sector Director for AECOM in Europe. Previously, Rory was a transport consultancy professional spanning a wide area of consultancy services including traffic engineering, transport planning, highway engineering and ITS. His specialties: Client and third party relationships, business development and collaboration with partners.
