CIHT and PIARC UK are teaming up on a free to attend webinar taking place on 7th October on creating a vibrant young professional sector and how you can get more involved with PIARC UK.
The webinar will start at 17:00 and will consist of a panel discussion Chaired by Zahraa Kadri, Senior Consultant for Arup interviewing Juan Cañavera Herrera, Graduate Sustainability and Resilience Consultant for AECOM, Marina Domingo Monsoni, Communications Manager at PIARC UK and John Paterson MCIHT, Senior Group Engineer for Atkins.
The 'Myth-Busting Session' will also see Lila Tachtsi, Chair of PIARC UK & Asset Management Director for National Highways join to discussion.
Attendees will have ample opportunity to ask the panel their questions during the webinar.
With the Transportation sector constantly evolving and changing, we all need to address working towards creating and maintaining a young and vibrant sector that will benefit all now as well as into the future.
This 1-hour webinar will see our accomplished speakers address the barriers and challenges they have faced being young professionals throughout their careers. They will look at how young professionals can make themselves more appealing to prospective employers and make employers see the benefits of hiring a young professional. We will also receive valuable insight and ideas on how companies can make themselves more enticing to the industry’s priceless young professionals.
The webinar will also consist of a ‘myth busting’ session on how everyone can get actively involved in PIARC UK as a young professional and get the most out of their involvement.
What can we all do to attract young people into our industry and how can we make it more diverse and inclusive? How do we keep our young professionals engaged and involved? What more can we all do to push the young professional agenda forward in the right direction?
Zahraa Kadri is a Chartered Mathematician and recently joined the Infrastructure Advisory practice in Arup as a Senior Consultant. She has extensive experience in projects involving digital innovations, customer insights, asset management decision support tools and asset valuations from her previous role at Atkins.
Zahraa has led on building analytical methodologies across several award-winning projects, informing key decision-makers for their wide-ranging strategic and tactical asset management problems. She was awarded one of the Top 20 Women in Data and Tech 2020 by Women in Data UK and shortlisted as one of the Top 100 Women in Tech in 2020.
Zahraa is an active member of the IAM NxtGen Committee, BSI AMS/1 Committee and a young professional member of the PIARC Asset Management Technical Committee where she is part of a working group researching the renewal and rejuvenation of aging infrastructure.
Marina Domingo Monsonís is the Communications Manager of the World Road Association (PIARC) since 2017.
Since her arrival at PIARC, the Association's communication and promotion activities have been intensified with the opening of new formats such as social media and other channels including webinars, podcasts and short videos, among others. She is also in charge of fostering internal communication within the more than 20 Technical Committees and Task Forces that make up PIARC, as well as with PIARC National Committees, governing bodies and partners.
With a double background in communication and international relations, Marina has been working in different European and international organisations for more than 10 years.
Juan Sebastián Cañavera Herrera is currently a Graduate Consultant at the Sustainable and Resilient Cities Team in AECOM UK.
Specialised in urban resilience and adaptation of urban infrastructure to climate change, he works with AECOM to support cities on climate and sustainability issues, including cutting-edge projects, proposals and knowledge products.
He is a civil engineer with a PhD from the University of Cambridge. Using a multidisciplinary approach, his doctoral thesis analysed the governance structures behind adaptation planning of urban road networks and outlined how these structures can be improved to achieve resilient, safe, and inclusive cities.
John is Technical Lead within Atkins asset management business, producing national guidance and best practice tools for the transportation sector, and implementing these with a wide range of clients.
He holds a long term role in supporting the UK Roads Liaison Group, is the UK representative on the PIARC (World Road Association) Technical Committee for Asset Management, and Chair of international working group covering the renewal and rejuvenation of aging infrastructure. He is also responsible for developing a thriving and award-winning programme of customer focused work, with a view to integrating this into the decision making process for highway infrastructure asset management.
