Sixteen members attended an enlightening site visit to the Harbour Way project in Port Talbot on 12 July.
Members were informed of the project history were and provided with details of the road which is 4.5 km in length and located between the industrial area containing the Corus Strip Products steelworks and the settlements of Port Talbot and Margam. The road will provide a local distributor removing local traffic from the motorway and providing capacity and access to new development areas.
The visit involved a tour of the scheme which commenced in October 2010. The project has a significant rail interface involving the movement of signals on the South Wales main railway line.
The visit concluded with a buffet and the opportunity for members to discuss the project with the Harbour Way team.
Thanks to John Skentelbery of Costain and and Rhys Griffith of Neath Port Talbot for hosting the enjoyable and informative visit.
