Sharing the latest on the CIHT Partner-Supported Technical Paper Reducing Emissions by 63% in a Decade
Representatives from our Partner organisations and CIHT Technical Champions have formed three task and finish groups for 2023. Each group will develop and deliver a technical paper that will positively influence the sector and support the changes the sector needs to take to progress and develop.

Delegates will hear about how our work is developing directly from the professionals and experts that are contributing to this research and are leading on the implementation of sustainable solutions.

Yara has worked as a Transport Planner in Dubai and the UK. Passionate about active travel and inclusive mobility, Yara is a member of the CIHT Council and a member of the Learned Society and Technical Strategy Board. She is Chair of this task and finish group looking at Reducing Emissions by 63% in a Decade.

Stephen Joseph is a transport policy consultant, specialising in urban and local issues and in smart transport.
Stephen is a trustee and chair of the Foundation for Integrated Transport. He is a director of the Transport for New Homes project, which the Foundation established. He also chairs the Smart Transport board for Bauer Media and is an adviser to the Rail Devolution Network. He was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 1996 for services to transport and the environment.
Drawing on the Smart Mobility Unit's work on transport outside cities, Stephen’s presentation will highlight options for reducing emissions from transport and provide insights into the decarbonisation policies of the four UK nations.

Clement has over 15 years’ experience in managing and delivering traffic / transport and highways schemes in both the private and public sector. The past year he has taken the role as sustainability champion, delivering tools and strategies for carbon management and low carbon designs and construction in a local authority, across various service areas in the highways division.
Presenting on the public realm improvement work carried out on Liverpool Grove, Walworth Streets for People, Clement will cover the benefits delivered to the community both during and after completion of the work and how the team conscientiously sought to reduce the carbon impact of the construction through both the design and build process. Delegates will hear how they achieved an overall reduction between traditional design and actual emissions of 51% through the changes in design and implementation of low carbon construction practices.

Delegates will be given an update on the work completed to date. They will also hear presentations on research and other work being done to address the reduction of carbon emissions.
