MeyGen’s tidal stream project is at the forefront of developing world marine energy, harvesting the tidal resource of one of the most energetic sites in Europe.

MeyGen Ltd, the developer and project sponsor, secured an Agreement for Lease from Crown Estates for the area that lies in the Inner Sound between the island of Stroma and the north easterly tip of the Scottish mainland, encompassing almost 3.5km2 of fast flowing water. It is their overall goal to deliver a fully operational, 398MW renewable energy plant powered purely by the tide, generating the equivalent electricity to power 40,000 Scottish homes by 2020.

Guy, who lives in Caithness a few miles from MeyGen’s site is a chartered mechanical engineer and fellow of IMechE and has a background is in the design, operations, maintenance, construction and decommissioning of large capital projects in the energy sector. He is currently seconded to Meygen from URS’s Engineering & Facilities division where he is the Business Manager.
