ROAD SAFETY AUDIT IN A DIFFERENT LONDON
A Greater London Branch Presentation

Venue: Colin Buchanan, 20 Eastbourne Terrace, London, W2 6LG

Kate Carpenter, Chair of CIHT Road Safety Panel
Ken Huddart, Member of CIHT Urban Development Panel,
Nationally and in London major changes in traffic management standards create uncertainty for Road Safety Auditors, beyond what was usefully covered in the 1999 CIHT Guidelines. Manual for Streets 2 this September raises the question as to whether and how Auditors are concerned at Stopping Sight Distances and Sightlines. Does pedestrian guard rail removal cost crashes? Is pedestrian signal count-down safe? Are Auditors too constrained by standards, such as for corduroy paving? What about Cycle Super-Highways and rear-platform buses?
