London’s Consolidated Highways Alliance Contracts
East Sussex County Hall, Lewes
17 January 2013
4.30pm
In November 2012 Transport for London and the London boroughs
awarded four new regional framework contracts to be used for delivering
more than £2bn of road maintenance and improvement over the next eight
years.
The motives include greater efficiency. TfL is aiming to save around
£450M in highway maintenance costs and the London boroughs are
expected to make use of the new Consolidated Highways Alliance
Contracts where they offer better value than existing arrangements.
At this meeting of CIHT’s South Eastern Branch, TfL’s head of highways
Andy Best will explain the thinking behind this latest procurement initiative,
which for the first time will apply to all roads across London. Up to 12
London Boroughs are expected to use the frameworks for a range of road
maintenance services from April 2013, with more using the new
arrangements as contracts come up for renewal, taking their total value to
around £2.6bn.
