MfS vs DMURS Christmas Seminar
The South West Region is holding a Christmas seminar and drinks event. This year, the topic will be street guidance and the speaker will contrast the UK Manual for Streets (1&2) with the newer Irish Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets (DMURS). DMURS is street design guidance published in 2013 for application in Ireland. The guidance is focused on the design of all urban streets up to 40mph with consideration of all users of streets and the urban place. DMURS draws on MfS research but goes further in its application and scope.
The seminar is intended to generate discussion and debate about the pros and cons of these documents, possibly highlighting the need for MfS3. The session will be led by Jon Tricker, the South West Director at Phil Jones Associates.
