2013 BRANCH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING -1st May 2013

 

Where: Hampshire County Council, Winchester

The Annual General Meeting of the Southern Branch will be held at Hampshire County Council’s Ashburton Hall, Elizabeth 11 Court, Winchester on1st May 2013, commencing at 6.00pm. The venue is located on the southern side of Sussex Street close to Winchester Railway Station.

 

The purpose of this letter is to give formal notice of the AGM and to invite nominations for the Southern Branch officers and committee members for the 2013/14 session. The Branch Committee may consist of all classes of members (fellows, members, associate members and students).

 

The Branch Committee is particularly keen to ensure that we have a better representation of young people, women and ethnic groups on our committee. The Branch Committee will, as usual, make nominations but nominations for all posts are particularly welcome from the general membership.

 

We are particularly keen to have new Committee members who are enthusiastic to join in an active role of helping to organise our activities. Membership of the present committee is shown on the attached file. In accordance with the By-Laws there will be vacancies for a possible four elected committee members plus the Secretary and Treasurer who are elected annually. A nomination form is also provided on the attached file which should be returned to me by Monday 29 April 2013.

 

To conclude the evening of the AGM, the Branch will be holding its Young Professionals Presentation competition sponsored by Colas. Your support of the young professionals would be appreciated and members’ partners and non-members will, as always, be welcome to attend.

Your chance to represent the Southern Branch and win prizes! This year the CIHT Southern Branch will again be inviting young members to enter the Young Professionals’ Competition sponsored by Colas.

Entrants need to be members of the CIHT Southern Branch and under the age of 35. Submissions should reflect experience in the highways and transportation sector. Entries can be entirely new work or adapted from university projects, professional development etc. Presentations should last up to 20 minutes and will be followed by questions.

A panel of judges will assess the candidates and award monetary prizes as follows: First Prize £100 and Second and Third Prizes £50.

 

If you are interested in representing the Southern Branch please send brief details of your proposed topic along with your contact details to rachel.rombough@gmail.com. The winner of the competition will also be given the chance to represent the Southern Branch at the CIHT National Colas Premium Award competition to be held on Wednesday 6th November 2013 at CIHT’s Headquarters in Britannia Walk, London. This will be all expenses paid and there will be further prizes on offer.
