Speakers: Various
Venue: Eric Liddell Centre,15 Morningside Rd, Edinburgh
Date: Friday 29 January 2016
Time: 1000 – 1500
What are the implications for how we design, maintain and manage streets to make them better places, accessible to everyone? As transport practitioners, what are the requirements under the Equality Act and how should we comply with them in an effective and proportionate way? How do we work with disabled people and user groups to achieve the best solutions?
This workshop will begin with an overview of the legal framework within which designers and public roads authorities must operate. Through a series of case studies and updates on the latest available guidance, delegates will learn about some of the techniques currently being applied, including insights and advice from disabled users.

• Lynn Welsh – Head of Legal, Equality and Human Rights Commission
• Andrew Davidson – Head of Standards Branch, Transport Scotland
• Jon Harris – Managing Director, Harris Ethical Ltd.
• Representative from the Edinburgh Access Panel
