CIHT Hong Kong is excited to offer this joint technical seminar with HKIE on Championing Innovative Construction Technologies in the Northern Metropolis with Mr Gavin Wong, Deputy Project Manager at the Civil Engineering and Development Department.
In Hong Kong’s rapidly evolving landscape of infrastructure and new development areas, the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) stands as a driving force for innovation, relentlessly advancing construction technologies to achieve greater efficiency, cost-effectiveness, safety and sustainability. This presentation highlights the department’s pioneering deployment of transformative solutions in the Northern Metropolis, including the use of ultra-high-strength S960 steel for a pedestrian footbridge, horizontal bridge rotation to construct a vehicular bridge over the East Rail Line, and the adoption of U-shaped and rectangular tunnel boring machines to overcome complex site constraints. Furthermore, automated piling platforms and folding formwork are revolutionizing safety standards while boosting productivity. Together, these breakthroughs not only set new benchmarks for infrastructure development but also exemplify how innovation can reshape the future of sustainable growth.
