Trunk Road T4 in Sha Tin is a strategic infrastructure project with length of about 2.3 kilometres connecting Route 1 and Route 8/Route 9, providing a direct link for traffic between Ma On Shan/ Sha Tin East and West Kowloon/Tsuen Wan in relieving the traffic condition in Sha Tin town centre. Trunk Road T4 is the last piece of puzzle of the major road network in Sha Tin new town development, enhancing the overall transportation infrastructure for commuting between New Territories East and Kowloon.
Tseung Kwan O (TKO) Promenade Southern Bridge is an iconic footbridge spanning 150 metres across the Eastern Channel of Junk Bay, providing a direct link for pedestrians connecting the LOHAS Park residential development and the TKO town centre. The bridge’s innovative wave-shaped design draws harmonious inspiration from the natural undulating waves of the Eastern Channel. Despite its modest footprint, the Southern Bridge embodies architectural grace and technical sophistication, swiftly becoming both a cultural and engineering icon that enriches the urban fabric of TKO.
This technical talk will introduce the key benefits of both projects, focusing on enhancing the mobility of commuters and residents. It will highlight the challenges faced in the design and construction of these two projects especially in a densely populated urban area, and how engineering excellence, innovation and technology are utilized to overcome these challenges. It will also emphasize how these projects would promote the integration of the infrastructure with surrounding community.
The technical seminar will be conducted in English and online registration is required. Participation is limited to 120 attendees and applications will be accepted based on seat availability. Registration closes on 9th March.
This event is open to everyone working or interested in highways and transportation but will be of particular interest to urban and transport planners, engineers, architects, consultancy, contractors, academia, and researchers.
