Traffic and transport are the lifeblood of a modern city, closely intertwined with various aspects of daily life. To align with economic and social development and enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness, the Transport Department launched the Traffic and Transport Strategy Study (TTSS) in December 2021 to formulate a long-term strategy blueprint for Hong Kong. The Government has advanced the study over the past years with the vision of “Transforming Travel to People-centric, Efficient and Green Journeys Connecting Daily Lives”, and the “Transport Strategy Blueprint” is scheduled for announcement this year. The talk will introduce its latest features, focusing on the three main themes, “Enjoyable Journeys”, “Well-Connected City”, and “Healthy Mobility”, along with six key strategies and concrete recommendations.

Ir Clarence Cheng - Chief Engineer at Transport Department of the HKSAR Government Ir Clarence Cheng is the Chief Engineer in the Transport Department of the HKSAR Government leading the Strategic Studies Division. He has over 20 years of working experience in traffic engineering and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in both private and public sectors. Recently, he was mainly involved in driving various Smart Mobility initiatives in Hong Kong as well as carrying out the Traffic and Transport Strategic Study. Before joining the Transport Department, he was involved in the planning, construction and commissioning of various highway infrastructures and the formulation of the Railway Development Strategy 2014. |
