This year’s venue is Newbury, famous in road construction terms for its By-pass which finally opened in 1998 following a major environmentalist campaign (which was dubbed the Third Battle of Newbury by the national media), is the principal town in this area and serves as the major commercial and retail centre for West Berkshire.
