Subject: Thameslink Programme and the London Bridge Station Transformation

Over £1.3m is being invested every single day on Network Rail’s Thameslink Programme. London Bridge station, the fourth busiest station in the UK, is being completely rebuilt. The approaches, which carry 1,800 trains a day, are being extensively remodelled and pinchpoints are being removed. The railway control systems and signalling are being upgraded to support metro style services in the Core tunnels. Infrastructure is being adapted for the 115 new Siemens trains. This presentation and London Bridge Station walking tour will provide an update on progress on one of the biggest components of Network Rail’s Enhancements Delivery Plan.

Speaker: Nick Gray

Nick is a Principal Project Sponsor at Network Rail.  In the 15 years that Nick worked for Network Rail he was the sponsor for the £200m Virgin Cross Country upgrade programme which saw 140 miles of route upgraded and new Voyager trains running over a third of the national network. This was followed by sponsor and delivery roles on the £600m Southern Power Supply Upgrade supporting introduction of 2,000 new rail vehicles. He led the development phase of a major upgrade of lines in north London as part of the TfL Overground initiative which was completed ahead of the Olympics.  Nick has been working on the Thameslink Programme for 5 years, sponsoring over 100 component projects across all railway disciplines as well as delivering £780m of programme-wide enabling and facilitation activities.
