This webinar will explore how the construction industry has adapted over the last five years and through significant changes. The webinar will be led by Neil O'Connell, Chief Engineer at Hampshire County Council and will include a live Q&A session.
This session will look at how the construction industry has adapted itself to survive the 2008 credit crunch, the war in Ukraine and all other events in between. The speaker will tell the adaption story since 2008, then present some thoughts on the future before inviting comments questions and further discussions.
The question ‘how will the war in Ukraine affect our projects?’ is often asked. This session will hopefully enable all participants to answer that question plus many more questions around revolving events and changing constraints, considering the environment in which these events occurred.
The story will explore the effects of Brexit, Covid and many other factors including the more recent cost increases and shortages of labour and materials.
This session is for anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of our industry and increasing their awareness of how other parts of the industry think and behave. Also, for those who are concerned about the financial impacts of capital infrastructure transportation projects and maintenance schemes now and in the future.
Neil is Chief Engineer at Hampshire County Council, responsible for all strategic highway contracts and a supply chain of 84 suppliers, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Director of the Generation 4 frameworks which has created a large community of Contractors and Local Authorities working collaboratively together to deliver infrastructure projects across the south of England. But the most important thing about Neil, is he is extremely passionate about bringing all parts of the industry together to increase trust and understanding of each other.
