On 4, 5 and 6 March, IHT featured in The Big Bang Fair, a mix of exciting shows and workshops encompassing the entire science and engineering spectrum.
Based at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, the fair benefits students interested in beginning a career in science and engineering. The fair featured displays and demonstrations of leading-edge technology, workshops and a special exhibition to showcase inspirational projects.
In accordance with Institution objectives, IHT was on hand to offer guidance and advice to students and to encourage the growth of new talent within the engineering industry.
IHT's exhibition stand also received a helping hand from some young members, who at graduate engineer level, could offer examples of their own academic and work experiences. The IHT would like to thank Hetal Patel, Shukri Marzook and Peter Chong for their support at the conference.

IHT Director of Education & Membership, Sue Stevens said:
“Most students have no idea how varied the job opportunities are within engineering and how important engineers are to society. The Big Bang Fair is an excellent way of capturing young people’s attention and imagination and encouraging them to think seriously about a career in engineering.”
Nearly 5,000 young people and over 1,500 teachers, politicians, exhibitors, sponsors and general supporters enjoyed the UK’s biggest celebration of science and engineering.
The conference culminated in the crowning of the UK Young Engineer and UK Young Scientist of the Year with an impressive awards ceremony.
The next Big Bang event will take place in 2010 in Manchester. For more information on the event and for details of next year, please visit The Big Bang Website
