Boris Johnson was elected Mayor in May 2008 with improving transport and travel in London as a high priority. His vision for transport in the capital was formally published in ‘Way to Go!’ in November 2008. Following a consultation on this document, the Mayor’s Transport Strategy for transport over the next 20 years was developed, with the aim of preparing for London’s predicted growth of 1.25 million more people and 0.75 million more jobs by 2031 and supporting sustainable growth. The debate will provide the speakers with the opportunity to discuss, half-way through Boris Johnson’s term of office, how his priorities are being delivered, what has been achieved and the challenges ahead.
