Led by CIHT South West. The South West Showcase Series is a region-wide look at projects in the South West led by key industry leaders across the region.
Featured local authorities include Cornwall Council, Devon County Council, Somerset County Council, Torbay Council and Wiltshire Council with more to be announced.
The South West region is, geographically, the largest of England’s nine official regions. It’s mix of geographical features, contrasting urban and rural settlements, susceptibility to the impacts of climate change and constrained network all provide challenges to transport infrastructure. However, in challenge lies opportunity.
This webinar series, organised by the CIHT South West committee, is designed to provide insights into recent transport projects and the challenges that they address from across the diverse region. Across the three webinars there will be presentations from several Local Authorities, covering different topic areas. Each session provides an opportunity for Q&A. Offered at the price of a single event, this really is three CPD webinars for the price of one.
As part of your ticket for The South West Showcase series is access to the recordings for the full three part series which included the following presentations.
Cathryn Brown of Bath and North East Somerset Council on Clean Air Zone Implementation.
Allan Creedy of Wiltshire Council on Salisbury "People-friendly streets".
Mike O’Dowd-Jones of Somerset County Council and Laurence Oakes-Ash of City Science on the development of the Somerset Climate Emergency Strategy and the use of City Science’s Decarbonisation Policy Tool to inform future transport policy.
Jamie Hulland of Devon County Council on the delivery of a Sports England pilot project in the Greater Exeter area aimed at building healthier and more active communities aimed at making it easier for citizens to access and enjoy physical activity.
Andrew Archer of Cornwall Council and Alan Rodgers of AECOM will present on the challenges of the rapid roll-out of Covid-19 emergency response measures in Penzance, Cornwall.
The event is aimed at all transportation professionals.
Whilst the discussion and project case studies will all be drawn from the South West region, the issues and topics to be discussed will be of national importance and learning from projects will be applicable across the country.
All transportation professionals, ranging from engineers to planners, from modellers to operators, from contractors to decision-makers will benefit from attending. The event will be accessible to all.
