The paper will explain how traffic signal control has changed over time. Advances in communications and systems are presenting huge opportunities for growth and development in traffic management technology.
Liverpool is leading the way in a number of areas including efficient traffic control, automated strategies to deal with planned and unplanned events, special facilities for emergency vehicles, features for freight traffic, experimental work with polluting gases to influence traffic control under certain weather & traffic conditions and working toward a passenger information system with live travel information via any mechanism; web, sms, display screens, mobile phone apps etc.
The paper should be of interest to a broad range of professionals in industry and students, not solely those involved in traffic management / traffic engineering, as it will explain the technology used, how it is deployed to improve the management of traffic movement and the associated benefits.
I would encourage as many of you that can attend to do so. Places are limited so please contact : hayley.mcdonnell@liverpool.gov.uk
