Transport infrastructure in Yorkshire and Humber is constraining economic growth. The ICE has long highlighted the issues in our State of the Nation report, both in 2013 and 2014, with recommendations on the priorities on how to improve. In particular the needs of trans-Pennine connectivity and capacity, tackling congestion and improving accessibility to ports and airports must be addressed.
George Osborne’s recent speech proposing a Northern Economic Powerhouse as well as the publication of “One North: A proposition for an Interconnected North” have highlighted the need for a step change in strategic transport thinking in the region.
The ICE is at the forefront of this debate and wants your views to help us shape the regional transport priorities. Les Goddard, Chair of ICE Yorkshire and Humber's Transportation Group, will set the scene - but we need your input. This will help the ICE develop a cohesive and compelling position on the future of the Transport network across the North of England which can be used to influence regional and national decision makers.
