Transport Planning Professional Evening Meeting

(IHT LONDON BRANCH AND TPS LONDON & SOUTH EAST REGION EVENING MEETING)
TRANSPORT PLANNING PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
WEDNESDAY 4th FEBRUARY 2009 at 6:00PM
at Lecture Room 201, Skempton Building, Imperial College, South
Kensington Campus, Exhibition Road, London , SW7 2AZ
Non-members welcome

The Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) in association with the Transport Planning Society (TPS) has launched a new Transport Planning Professional qualification, designed to provide professional recognition for Transport Planners.

The qualification enables transport planners to gain recognition for their particular technical skills and knowledge in the same way that CEng recognises professional engineers. The access routes are designed to allow transport planners from any academic background to work towards the qualification.

Following the successful launch seminar in September 2008 (which was over-subscribed) IHT/TPS are very pleased to provide this repeat event for those unable to attend the first. The Branch is delighted to welcome back Martin Richards, TPS Board, and Derek Palmer, IHT TPP Consultant, who will be giving the presentation on the new qualification. Martin and Derek will briefly outline the background to the qualification, the competence standards, assessment procedures and the arrangements for the pilot assessments.

Who should attend?
We want to cast the net as widely as possible so anyone with an interest is most welcome, you don’t need to be an IHT or TPS member to attend.

Those who may be interested in attending include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Individuals who wish to become professionally qualified Transport Planners and potential mentors
  2. Practising Transport Planners and their employers (both the public and private sectors, organisations/firms of all sizes and across the different modes);
  3. University students, lecturers and careers advisors – both those involved in specific
  4. Transportation courses, as well as on other relevant undergraduate courses;
  5. Anyone with an interest in finding out what the new qualification is about.
  6. Please register early as demand for places will be high.

To register, please email Jennifer.allen@iht.org
