Transport Policy and Effective Decision Making

Informed and evidence driven decision making is vital if we are to make
effective use of scarce financial resources available through competitive
processes.

As local governance changes to reflect the ‘localism’ agenda and devolution,
transport policy is changing to reflect the importance of economic growth and
regeneration, particularly in the North of England.

This presentation will cover:

  • Key national transport policies and their role in setting the strategic context for investment;
  • The role of regional organisations in decision making
  • The development of transport plans at the local level to inform transport investment decisions
  • How transport policy and decision making influence ssuccessful scheme delivery
