Led by the Bedford Civil Engineering Society (BCES) and CIHT East of England. This event will provide insight into the Wixams project in Bedfordshire and the progress of the development.
Join us for a talk on 'Wixams – 20 Years in the Making’ from Ian Hardwick, Managing Director at L&Q Estates.
Ian's involvement in the Wixams project started in 2000. Since that time, Ian has seen the Wixams evolve from a concept to what is now an established new settlement of some 1,600 new houses and over 3,000,000 sq ft of Employment. When complete the development will provide over 4,500 much needed new homes.
The Wixams is predominantly built on the site of the former Royal Ordnance Filling Factory 16, which was acquired by the War Office in 1939, continued munitions production until 1945 and subsequently operated for many years as Elstow Storage Depot.
