Worker Safety during Mobile Traffic Management

CIHT Qatar Group organises technical, membership and social events to maintain and enrich the working knowledge of highways and transportation professionals in Qatar.

Mobile Traffic Management is generally used for short duration lane closures, which may include continuously moving operations as well as works that are not contained within a fixed work area and involve a series of short duration periodic stops. For these types of works the Moving Traffic Management Technique is applicable, however, specialised equipment such as Truck/Trailer Mounted Attenuators (TMAs) are generally required for this type of work.

The use of TMAs in Qatar is fundamental to reducing the risks relating to manual labour connection with Work Zone Traffic Management. All TMAs and attenuators used on the Qatar road network must comply with the requirements of the Qatar’s Work Zone Traffic Management Guide (WZTMG). Examples of Qatar work zones will be shown, particularly on the improvements that have been witnessed in the recent months.
